In my experience having a PO box is a godsend as at one poit I was getting a film a week delivered to my home addy, till father put his foot down on the matter. ?52 a year is a small price to pay for confidentiality, all mailshots go to my PO box including the likes of Target and other companies of the same ilk. I even get my cc statements posted there but that depends upon the card issuer. The pigeon holes they call PO boxes will hold 4 vids and as I pass the sorting office on my way to work it's no real inconvenience, except perhaps for a saturday morning when they close at 9.15 am. Bear in mind though that anybody can phone the Royal Mail and request the registered address of the keeper of the PO box but they don't give out the name of the keeper.

by A journalist writes
The post office WILL give out the name, address and telephone number of post office box holders if they have those details - so when you fill out the application form, don't give out those details or put fake ones. That way you can't be traced. A previous poster on this site mentioned Vicky Howard who sold vids out of a PO Box - she had one punter turn up on her front door step after ringing the post office. That also isn't her real name - which he also found out about from the GPO.

it specifically states on the web site that they do not give out a box holders name or telephone no.

I've had a PO Box for over 5 years... currently ?52 a year to pick it up from my sorting office. Some companies like TNT and DHL won't deliver to a PO Box, but anything posted via Royal Mail will be delivered there.
I would disagree with "the journalist" who said use a false name and address, as the form you need to fill out, your ID card to pick up your post from the "box" and the reminder you'll get sent to renew in a year's time are sent to the address you give NOT the PO Box!!
The Post Office do NOT give out the name of the box owner, but will, if asked, give the address of the box owner. Remember, a PO Box is not meant to be used by people trying to hide some unlawful activity, and this openness allows those that may have been "stung" by a scam to try and find out who it was. A PO Box is merely an additional way of receiving mail.

Quite right, Bob. Many people think that PO Boxes are anonymous, but that just isn't the case. I have had experience from both sides, and it is surprisingly easy to get hold of the PO Box holders' address. Drake, I think you may be better off going to one of the many mailholding companies that advertise in the likes of Loot etc.
By the way, writing as one who has been both a parcel delivery driver and a courier, it is slightly misleading to say that we will not deliver to PO Boxes, the simple truth is that we can't, we need an address to deliver to. I hope all this helps.

Please remember that PO Boxes are not exclusive to the Post Office. There are many francises of "MAIL BOX INC" around the country, and a lot in London. They are also good for having exclusive addresses such as Bakers Street, etc., which make your business look prosporous, which may not be the case.
