I still call them 'Ugly Kid Joe Pants' after the really bad american band that seemed to herald them in in the early 90's !
I bet stupid Yanks still think they are the sight of fasion when they wear them ....i blame the hole skateboarding generation,
a google search on the subject says Joe Strummer wore them !!

I am pleased to see that the northern stereotype has moved on from flat cap and whippet with coal for breakfast. We are sending out these cultural ambassadors in order to put off any loud mouthed, know-nothing, lager piss drinking, 'do you know how much my house is worth', cockneys who are considering visiting/moving to Gods own country. The rest of us are grateful to them.
