the goon show was very funny too as was the navy lark,couldnt quite get the men from the ministry,take it from here was ok though,if you visit www.whirligig-tv.co.uk click on radio days tyou can hear snippets from these shows.DavidS wrote:

Talking of the Navy Lark, didn't the actor who played Captain Povey do a Tabu short about a duel where he got his cock shot off. If it wasn't him it was someone who looked remarkably like him.

No it wasn't Stephen Murray, it was Richard Caldicott. Stephen Murray was quite a distinguish actor, did a lot of plays by Terence Rattigan, I believe. Incidentally one member of the cast is still very active as an actor, Tenial Evans.

There were lots of references to things being 'bona' (spelling? a possible double entendre there) and 'lallies'. No to mention 'Ooh, inne bold?'

sorry i was miles away yes it was caldicot,seen him in the avengers too ,wasnt there a tv series made based on the navy lark,HMS paradise or something,stephen murray was in a old b/w thriller called silent dust thats worth watching.DavidS wrote:

Tenial Evans now reminds me very much of Barry Humphreys in appearance. saw him very recently in something, possibly Midsomer Murders.
