I've got the infection cleaned up, it's just the cookies registry that needs some TLC!

I'd pass on becoming a Monk...hairy hands are very unsightly
Another alternative is to activate the hosts file in the tools section of spybot.....it black lists a whole list of servers known for bad behaviour
You'll still find adaware & spybot will still find things but their nearly always at the bottom end of the scale
Does the same job I believe as spywareblaster by javacool at
Also good for everything there is to know about unwanted parasites
with links if you want to go the whole hog in protecting your system
cheers

Sounds like the main treat is gone but when your homepage was hijacked it obviously changed certain settings which even CW Shredder hasn't changed back
might be a good place to start
Running their program 'hijack this' and posting it to the forum can tell you if you've really removed the threat totally
Failing that maybe would be worth a run

Can you say WINPATROL ?
This is a free program that you can download from the web.
It runs in the background all the time Windows is running and
tells you if someone is trying to install a program. You have the
choice to say yes or no.
It can also tell you what program starts when Windows starts,
so you can see if any of them are dodgy.
It also tells you when an IE Helper is installed (some of these
dodgy programs came in as IE Helpers).
It also tells you if someone tries to change your homepage.
It also lists all your cookies and gives you the chance to list
ones that you do not want added in future.
It can also tell you if anyone is trying to change your hosts
file, which generally no-one should do.
Well worth installing.
