Re: British Journalist about to lose his head?
"Ah well - if only they'd listen to a true self-proclaimed non-middle class, non-pretentious, non-ponce like you then the truth would be revealed."
Glad you're coming round to my way of thinking spook.
Oh, and by the way, here are a few links relating substantiated reports of BBC bias and the British Army?s displeasure
?Still - nothing like reveling in another man's potential murder to justify your own tired and ill-considered prejudices.?
Sir, I?ll have you know that my prejudices are as fresh as a daisy and the sum of keen-eyed observation during my long tenure at the University Of Life - this combined with a hearty application of computational logic to my findings.
Regarding 'moral dilemma?s'. I tend not be constrained by them. I am amoral.
Sorted.
Officer Dibbs.

Speaking of keen observation and being a graduate of the University of Life, you'll see nothing dodgy about the fact this bloke was held for less than a day before being released; that he was picked for this ordeal when there were other journos in the hotel, and that he is a freelancer.
Maybe I'm being overly suspicious or cynical, but something smells here---and it's not Dibble's Blue Stratos.

I've just read that the kidnapped journalist was working for that well known extreme left wing, pacifist newspaper the Sunday Telegraph.
Btw Dibble, how far would you go in supporting our troops, given that they were sent there by your old mucker Teflon Tony. Do you believe in the adage "My country right or wrong"?
Mart

Re: Why I said I dont care if troops die
Nice argument but when did Soldiers start deciding where they would go and what they would do while they were there?
I'm assuming their in the Armed Forces while their over there
I'm sure most people who join the Armed Forces do so to defend their country not so they can invade foreign countries and kill people
cheers

Oh no - to think you've gone to all that trouble to post links, none of which back up your "its true that there's a rumour" claim that British troops wouldn't watch the BBC and chose Fox or CNN instead.
10/10 for effort
0/10 for achievement
looks like you've failed yet again in the University of Life.

Re: British Journalist about to lose his head?
This post passed me by, but I like to think Tomsk meant was that if you are serving in the Armed Forces, it does make you 'Fair Game' in the eyes of the opposition as opposed to 'neutrals' working there like journalists. Its a fine line if you are a civilian sub-contracted by the MoD to undertake work there as the poor Korean and Turkish civilians found to their cost.
Executing a serving Armed Forces personnel is wrong, videoing it as a 'warning' to others is also wrong, but executing civilians employed by the Armed Forces is sickening.
