Yes, I was fighting to get my breath at that statement too. I wonder what the families of the British toops out there would think about it?
If anything it should be the other way round - journalists, on the whole being left of centre middleclass handwringers have unconsciously pandered to the disruptive elements in Iraq, because they were miffed at the war. Their reports, particularly on the BBC and Channel 4 News, were snidely slanted against the coalition. It was all - "The Americas Bombed an Iraqi Wedding Party Today - Many Women and Children Killed". Because they were poncily pissed off at the war, they omitted to put the story in its correct context - that the whole sorry episode was a horrible accident, the likes of which are inevitable in the fog of war. That the coalition would deliberately bomb ordinary Iraqi citizens is patently absurd. Why would they do that, what could be gained? And wouldn?t they be aware of the awful PR consequences? Nobody asked those questions, because pretentious middleclass journalists only interviewed other poncy middleclass sorts with similar poncy agendas. In fact it is said the BBC coverage of the war was so moral sapping and biased against the coalition (their own side) that the British troops wouldn't watch it and chose Fox or CNN instead.
So, could this be a case of Jurnos now reaping what they have sown?

WHAT AN ASS
Re: British Journalist about to lose his head?
I find Tomsk' remarks reprehensible.
The execution of anyone by these thugs is disgusting & inhuman.
The coalition troops are sent to Iraq to do their job, with very little choice in the matter, who in their right mind would volunteer to be a Govt "Aunt Sally".
Journo's on the other hand voluteer to go in harms way in the hunt for a fat wage packet, a sensationalist story & to get their mugs on the front pages or TV. Stirring up endless rabble rousers in the process.
So when yet again one gets into trouble who's to blame? Maybe the media should take responsibility for its actions & either shut up or put up, get the F**k out of the way & let the coalition get on with its task.

Ah well - if only they'd listen to a true self-proclaimed non-middle class, non-pretentious, non-ponce like you then the truth would be revealed.
Truths like
"In fact it is said" - so that will be a fact that there is an unsubstantiated rumour - genius, surely not even the most spin-raddled, duplicitous journo would come up with such a twisted version of "the truth".
Still - nothing like revelling in another man's potential murder to justify your own tired and ill-considered prejudices.
You must face tough choices though - imagine the Iraqis held a squaddie from a chav background and a broadsheet journo. Which one would Dibble want then to kill first - moral dilemmas like this must be a permanent worry to the true bigot.

Re: British Journalist about to lose his head?
Nobody deserves to be executed whatever their role in the War
Killing never solved anything
Its sad to think that these self righteous fools think that by
threatening the Coalition through executions they will all leave IRAQ
Sure some countries will withdraw their support but it will be a long time coming before the Americans leave
The American Death toll is up to some 900+ already so I don't see the 80+ kidnappings to date even making a dent in their resolve to see it through
cheers

I wish they would kidnap some of the members of this forum. Not do them any harm just keep them somewhere safe, like where Saddam hid his WMDs and they can't be found.
