I lived in Deptford in SE London, lots of African crime, due to the large african population. I then spent some time in the Medway area - lots of white crime - lots of white people. I saw an Arab steal another arab's money on holiday a few years ago. The fact remains the same

Criminals are more likely to commit more crime.

Whats with all this smurf and wombles talk??? I know its another way for saying blacks and whites without offending anybody but the truth of the matter is I can get offended either way, so both blacks and whites better watch what they say !cool!

What makes youth or otherwise turn to crime? Single parent homes? Inferior education? Unemployment? Discrimination? All due to racism/prejudice? Not enough love for one another? Even white youths from the "burbs" have been known to "wild out" on occasion and they have two parents in their homes. I've been attacked twice riding my bike from work by some know-nothing youths, one pulled a gun before I could get close enough to him to knock him out. They call this "black on black crime".

Yes. That has a lot to do with it - no father figure to set them on the right track. The answer? Don't make single motherhood a viable option.

Nah. I had "an inferior education", but it hasn't held me back. From what I've seen of life, if you're 'the right stuff', it doesn?t matter whether you've had any education at all. You'll still get ahead.

I don?t know about that one CJ. The only discrimination I?ve encountered is when the office manager or lady of the house suggested I might like to use the tradesmen's entrance (I was a UPS man for a while). But I didn?t care. I just thought ?Fuck ?em? I?ll show ?em?. Then, some years later when I returned to the same or similar establishments on business (in my Mercedes) it was all the red carpet treatment and gracious offers of cappuccinos, lattes or espressos. Not to mention the gorgeous, well-groomed, receptionist giving me the eye, giving me the ?Hmmm, I fancy him. Obviously a man of substance. I bet he?s got a right wad on him? kinda look.

But yes, I agree. Discrimination is a real disadvantage. It?s just human nature that the white boss will simply choose the applicant who he feels most comfortable with ? the one who looks most like himself. No mystery there. There?s no use whining about it. It?s just a fact of life and won?t go away. You?ve just got to try a little harder ? convince him that you are cool, that you are reliable and capable. Once white folks get used to you, and feel comfortable with you, they will forget you are black, and you will simply become one of the guys. I have coloured friends, this has been my experience.

You could only prove yourself AFTER you're hired though. If a boss wants to discriminate at the hiring process you won't get a chance to prove you can do the job. Unfortunately it is human nature and if that's the case I hope that person don't go down a dark street or they'll have to pay for that discrimatory behaviour. As far as inferior education? It effects blacks differently than whites not just by the lies they teach but if you have a white teacher teaching black children they might not care about or be understanding of black children or even a black teacher who simply don't have enough patience to teach children who's parents don't seem to care either.
