Really enjoy Tennant as the new Doctor.Still it's a personnal preference, and others are free to disagree.
The stories do need to be longer, but I like the fact that each show is 45 minutes. The old episodes were only about 25 mins, but in 4-6 parts.
Still if they got longer would we just get padding? Or the same effects, but spread out? Expense is the real killer, they used to complain about 25 grand back in the 70s,hate to even think now!
Get rid of the PC black girl, not against coloured people per say,but at least get one with character.
Davies, well I do know that he pushed hard to get DR Who back, without him we probally wouldn't have had a new series back in 2005,so well played there.
On with the show:)

I am liking the new series, but I always look at it without trying to compare it with what's gone before. The old series had it's fair share of clunker stories, but the same can be said of any series, old or new, original or remake or update or remix version.
My era of Doctor's is the Pertwee/Baker era, liked a few of the Davison ones, but gave up on it by the time Baker & McCoy came along. However, I've now got all the Davison, Colin Baker & McCoy episodes thanks to UK Gold showing them all, and I'm gradually filling in the gaps as regards the older stories, with about 5 of them on DVD so far (Carnival of Monsters, The Ark In Space, Pyramids of Mars, The Five Doctors & the Two Doctors).
As for Tennant as the Doctor, I thought Ecclestone did an excellent job in Series 1, so his was always going to be a tough act to follow, but I think he's gotten better as the series and his character has progressed. There's always a massive weight of expectation when someone new comes into an established role, and I'm sure it was exactly the same when Hartnell was replaced by Troughton, Troughton by Pertwee, Pertwee by Baker, Baker by Davison, Davison by Baker, Baker by McCoy, McCoy by McGann (are we counting him?) and finally the new series. After all, look at the uproar when Star Trek:The Next Generation first started, classic Trek fans were up in arms until they gave the new series a chance & got over the fact the it was a new spin on the old idea.
There's a lot of "re-imagining" going on in all forms of media, some good, some bad, but at least if you don't like the new stuff, you can always stick with the old stuff! It's all about choices, after all!

Please god don't let that particular rumour be true. He was an unstable regeneration and should be just left out of everything Dr related, that way we might get a regeneration back, but saying that everything that has happened since Colin Baker went into the matrix might never have happened making Colin Baker still the Dr,or the block transfer (which affected the whole of creation) may have had a strange effect leaving Tom Baker still the Dr. The Tv movie was some of the worst shite I have ever seen and as such should be sent to wherever the Peter Cushing films were sent and never thought of again.

The movie was poor but I thought McGann made an excellent Doctor, far better than Tennant and Eccleston.

I thought Mcgann was a very generic hollywood version of the Doctor trying to live up to Tom Baker. All the christian imagery pissed me off too.
