Personally I though it was rather 'Tesco Value Darth Vader'.

Thought it was as bad as the rest of this series. I cannot abide Tennant, he doens't fit the role at all. Trying to fit everything into 45 mins limits the plot, would prefer series 4 to have 2-3 parters. And lose Agya or whatever, makes Roger Moore's eyebrows look animated.

Russell Davies needs to move on, his ideas are too PC. No doubt the next Doctor will be Asian, Gay, Welsh, Ginger and vote Labour!

So who should star in it & who should write it instead, then?

It wasn't an episode I'd be in a rush to watch again. If the two-parter coming up fails to impress, then it'll be up to Steven Moffat to save the day again.

You will have recognised the plot of '42' then

A blatant rip off of the Tom Baker story Planet of Evil with a few bits nicked from The Impossible Planet in series two.

It was a dash about romp but had all the depth of a piss drip on a toilet floor.

I have high hopes for the next two parts, but not expecting anything remarkable. New Who just doesn't hit the spot.

I have to agree that it was a pretty shallow plot. I sort of got into it whilst watching it but afterwards thought that it was an ok generic sci fi episode but it wasn't an episode of Dr Who. There was nothing that made it Dr Who really. I absolutely detested Tennant in his first series and refused to watch most of it, I thought he was wussier than Davison and had this geek chic thing going on and I hated it. I think he has got some of the madness and some of the aggression in the newer series though. I have just bought the three doctors, survival and the beginnings box set so after watching those this week all but an amazing episode would not look so good.
