Some people need it. Removing it would be the psychological equivalent of denying a cripple crutches.
It's in our nature to think we have some huge significance in the universe, and therefore we need to impose some order on our random existence. That order tends to be God, and that leads to pre-destiny, afterlife, and all those other fairy tales. Like most myths, they have an appeal---but that doesn't make them real or healthy.

Again, so I used to think.
But you sometimes have to be cruel to be kind, and the removal of a
delusion, however painful that removal may be, can only be beneficial in
the long term.

And whilst you`re at it go to ytmnd.com and search for scientology the unfunny truth and then a book called a clear blue sky if I remember right.
These fucks are dangerous. They infiltrate your life, take as much money as they can, demand you cut ties with any family or friends who criticise the cult. Anyone who criticises the cult publicly is harrassed with any and all means possible including threats of violence and legal action. Fuck Tom Cruise and his beard husband and Chinese baby. Fuck that cocksucker Travolta and fuck that dumb hypocrite Isaac Hayes.
". Wog? No that doesn`t mean anything racist its just a term meaning non believer."

The above could be truthfully be said of any cult.
Cruise et al. show all the classic signs of 'programming': aberrant
behaviour, self-imposed disassociation from non-cultists, a thoroughly
distorted world-view....
