Tom Cruise got the rerun pulled, and the guy that did the voice of the chef quit; even after they've taken the piss out of all other religions/cults before.

This is the downside of having no official religion; any nutter can start their own.

I hope you are not referring to that great philosopher L. Ron Hubbard as "any nutter"?

Cruiser seems to insist on all his wives/girl friends joining up, and this particular sect makes the Jesuits look positively hands-off.

As Wazza would say: "These people get to vote?!"

I just don't know how there never came a point in these people's minds that they thought, 'what a load of bollocks!'

A lot of the pull of this and other cults like Kabbala is they're adept at
reassuring the 'rich and famous' that "Hey Guys, it's OK to be fabulously
wealthy even though millions are starving, and lauded to the skies even
though you're only a fairly mediocre performer in a completely trivial
'industry', it's OK to behave like an asshole and a hypocrite, you're still a
good person".

Just as long as the bi percentage of their earnings goes straight to the "church."

Who'd have thought a hack sci-fi writer could have such an influence. What next, the Church of the Immakerlate Jack Higgins?

To be comletely impartial Christianity and others are no less preposterous in their claims.
And most humans seem to have an innate need to believe in a higher
power, as a defence against the reality of a hostile and mechanistic
Universe.

The difference being that we have grown up being told that the transvestites of the various Christian churches are quite normal.

Religion, fine for those who need it. Pointless to the rest.

I used to think 'live and let live' but now I'm a hardline Dawkinsite.
Religion rots the brain.
