I know what you mean, Alice.

It also gets me the way these celebrities (and indeed "nonebrities" like Jade Goody and Jordan) go out "incognito" in dark glasses - paranoid that someone will recognise them, yet at the same time terrified that nobody will.

It's all complete and utter superficial bollox, if you ask me.

As for the "Sacred Cow" Diana herself, I can only agree with the sentiments expressed here.

And as for her being some stunning beauty, just look at her before she married Chuck Windsor. She wasn't anything special to look at then.

Sure, she scrubbed up much better afterwards - but that was only because she had limitless funds, fashion advisors, personal stylists, hairdressers, make-up artists etc. at her beck & call 24/7 and was being marketed as the "modern" and "fashionable" face that motley bunch of inbred Germans and Greeks that makes up the British Royal Family.

Pretty much any woman would go up a few notches on the pokeability scale with all that assistance.

Nah - tragic as it was that she died so young, I never "got" the whole bizzare cult of celebrity thing surrounding her, hence I'm avoiding the TV news channels today like the plague.

I am though just waiting for Wazza to turn up and put us all firmly in our place, explaining to us what a wonderful person she was any why - and how ignorant and short-sighted we all are. !tut! !tut!

Pity somebody had to die, but shooting news coverage for Japanese TV that week gave me the biggest invoice I've ever presented to a client, before or since.

If she had 'belted up' in the car that day she'd still be with us today. Her bodyguard was the only one who use his seatbelt and he was the only one who survived.

I never understood this "cult" surrounding her?

Have to agree with you on that one, Wazza.

The media circus that always surrounds talentless charlatans like Pete Doherty, Jordan, Jade Goody and countless others too numerous to list only serves to fuel their already over-inflated egos and encourage them to think that they are actually something special and that we actually give a shit.

There is a vast regiment of these types out there, and somebody is trying to force them down our throats!

Just seen a clip of it on the news.

There in the audience was Elton John, Cliff, Dick Branson - where do you find an Al-Qaeda suicide bomber when you want one?

This is where they could provide a useful function.
