Mother Terresa died shortly after and recieved about 1/10,000th of the 'official' sadness and serious face pulling antics. I always thought Di could spot a photo opportunity from the moon and never failed to let us see how neglected she was.

I will however admit that the funeral procession with the bell and the little note with "Mummy" written on it was a tear jerker.

Phwooorr...look at her....CRASH

The day Diana died I went out a bought a few Sunday newspapers that had been printed BEFORE news of Diana's death had made the papers, and I kept them for historial reasons.

At that time she was going with Dodi and the hate and anger against Diana that was printed in those papers is amazing.

A column in the 31st August 1997 Daily Mail by Carole Down says about Diana:

"Most of the time when her sons are away at school, and even now when they are not, shes on permanent holiday in Europe".

"The princess I fear suffers from the "Open Gob Before Brain Engages" syndrome, a condition which affects the trivial and the brain dead"

"What we have here is a woman who has little common sense, even less judgement and a very convinient persecution complex which she drags out as a defence when her little publicity plots go belly up"

It says on his web site he died on 5th september 1997, which I think was around the date of the Diana funeral.

The Radio Times used to have a page at the back which was called "My Week" or something like that. They asked famous people to say what they did on a typical week.

Sir George Solti was in it one week in early September 1997, and he died during the week that he was featured.

He obviously did not see that coming..."and on Thursday I shall breath my last and shuffle off this mortal coil"

Just went to switch on the One O'Clock News and the Beeb are doing fawning live coverage of a person who died 10 years ago.

What happened to the big show for the 40th anniversary of Churchill's death two years ago---did I miss it.

It depresses me how many people spend so much time crawling to these talented nobodies just because they are "royal." There are those who dedicate much of their lives to helping their fellow men and women, and barely get noticed---but being able to wave and wear a stupid hat, and the serfs will be tugging forelocks right, left and centre.
