I'd guess the reason for releasing the 999 tape is to prove to the public just how frightened Shannon's mum is and that she has genuinely gone missing. Given her personal circumstances, sympathy may be short in supply in certain quarters---and there must be someone in the area who say the wee lass before she disappeared.

This mother did the right thing---when Shannon didn't come home when she said she would, she checked with the school, her friends, and then called the police worried sick for her daughter. Why the wall of silence in Dewsbury I don't know.

I reckon someone knows what happened to her, and who took her. Hearing the panicking mother's voice might have pricked someone's conscience.

I read somewhere that there is over 1000 people on the sex offender's register in a relatively small radius of where she lives,quite worrying!

All this comes down to classes and how certain circles of the media single them out.If Shannon's Mother neglected her (Shannon) to out for a meal,Social Services would be crawling all over her now.

Another example,Steven Lawrence.As we all know a brutal,racist murder.Lawrence apparantley was training to be a lawyer and also had law biding,respectable parents.

Had of Lawrence been a dead end degenarate 'Yoof' from Brixton,the racist cunts at The Sun and The Daily Mail would of shown as much remorse as i do when West Ham get beaten.
