I can't say I'm a huge fan of the idea of abortion either---but I'm not the one whose hormones will be going off the scale, whose body will endure all sorts of pains and twinges, and who will be screaming their head off during the birth. In the end, it comes down to the woman as to what decision to make.

I do like the way the Catholic Church goes on about the sanctity of life for the unborn, then lets some of its priests do what they like with children without criticism, and cares little about the untold millions starving to death in the third world.

Barcode while I respect you are entitled to you views, (this is a forum after all!) I would be interested to know your views on contraception, for example, condoms. After all we all know the Vatican's genocidal view on contraception.

"Dibble. Supporting Nazi ideas since 1939."

Knock 'em if you will, colonel. But they did make the trains run on time.

The point I was making was that there you are blithely suggesting (I presume) that abortion should be curtailed, with nary a thought to the financial and social cost of bringing unwanted babies into the world. I wanted to pull you up sharp, put you one the spot to explain how you would deal with the costs. Would you get your own checkbook out and put your money where your mouth is - or would you expect the rest of us to pick up the tab for your 'troubled conscience'? And what about the women themselves - would you use the power of the state to force them to carry a child that they neither wanted nor could afford? You know, I once saw a pro-abortion demonstration on US TV. As you might expect there was a group of chanting women with placards, one of which read "Keep Your Laws Off My Body".

It was, but that doesn't stop Adolf's admirers claiming the same for him---even though it was the autobahn he was responsible for.
