As the clammy hand of destiny grasps the fervent trumpet of fate...
...and as Samantha wistfully recalls its last leisurely blow, it's time to say goodbye.
RIP.

RIP Humph.
I am an avid listener to ISIHAC and I thoroughly enjoyed Humph as chairman. I particularly liked his cheeky jokes (sometimes very naughty) about the antics of "Samantha" which always had me in stitches.
I remember back in the 80's that some people (feminists) actually wrote to the BBC to complain about the way in which Humph spoke about "Samantha". The BBC had to release an official statement saying the "she" was a fictitious character.

In 1968 The Beatles nicked the intro to Bad Penny Blues for Lady Madonna!

If the BBC decide to continue with ISIHAC then perhaps they could consider Jack Dee as the new (replacement) chairman. I think he would be ideal.

Yes Jack Dee would probably do the role in a similar way to Humph.
But I have to say, after the show has run for over 30 years with Humph in charge it may be time to gently drop it.

I'd be sad if they carry on with ISIHAC - the others have said that anyone other than Humph was replaceable.

As a tribute to Humph, Radio 4 transmitted a classic episode of ISIHAC from 1995. I don't recall previously hearing it. !confused!
