vostok, you say "to support vulnerable people including ethnic minorities." Trust me, it will be only ethnic minorities. Rather like Doreen Lawrence with her architectural foundation for young people. If I was white and poor and lived in Tower Hamlets in east London (and was one of the 5% of that area who was white) I would feel very left out and excluded. The amount of racism that there is against poor white people in urban areas is obscene.

His lawyer accused the Met's deputy commissioner, Sir Paul Stephenson, of "inciting hatred" by telling Britain's top Asian policeman to "shut up and get on with his job".

I'm very pleased that Ghaffur retires tommorow. Hopefully we will have seen the back of this arrogant egotistical twat. I hope his 'celebrity lawyer' disappears from the TV screens and the newspapers aswell, and he stops earning heaps of money from bleating about things. Interesting how Ghaffur and is lawyer are the same ethnicity. Does he only trust people of his own ethnicity? And he calls other people racist!!

Get your facts straight. The 2001 census shows that white ethnics comprise 51.4% of the total population of Tower Hamlets:

Even allowing for a healthy margin of error due to a likely lower rate of census returns from those of a non-white background, you are out by a country (or an inner-city) mile.

Take a walk through Tower Hamlets, it barely feels like even 5% white. You would also have more chance of hearing someone speak English walking through a residential area of Paris or Berlin than if you walk through there.
