What surprises me is that people like Carol Thatcher go through life demonstrating no sense of humour. I've not heard it said 'She's a very funny woman'. There's no evidence of her wit.
Ten, she makes a racist remark and her only defence is that it was said in jest, it was a humourous aside or a bit of banter. It wasn't.
She's not an educated woman .. if you're exposed to education you learn how to think, not what to think. This is likely evidence of the toxic ideology she's internalised without question.

One of the stupidest comments I have ever read on the internet.
People seem to think that life before Thatcher was all roses and the situation in the UK was wonderful.
Not sure how old you are, but do you remember the "Winter of discontent"
in 1978-79?. WHEN LABOUR WERE IN POWER.
Read more here:
Inflation was over 25% in 1975 WHEN WILSON WAS IN POWER.
Things were so bad under Labour that Thatcher got into office in 1979 and stayed there till 1990.
If she had been that bad do you thnk she would have won 3 elections?
While I do concede not everything she did was right (like all politicians she made mistakes) she dragged this country into the 20th century and any "success" Labour had from 1997 onwards was because of the groundwork she laid.
She took this country from the "joke" of Europe to one of the most powerful and affluent countries in Europe (after all why do so many people from outside the UK want to come and live here).
If Labour had stayed in power in 1979 then it really WOULD have been destroyed (in the same way they are managing to destroy it now).

Re: Jonathan Ross suspended, Carol Thatcher sacked..
Probably just down to ratings, viewing figures and the cost of the 'celeb' to be sacked.
Had Thatcher said what she said before Ross / Brand I also feel that a slap on the wrists would have probably happened IF and it's a big if what she said had even been mentioned.
I suspect the person reporting her just wanted to get on and the good old BBC in turn saw it as a good opportunity to get rid of some the flack they are getting.
Shame really when you consider what Thatcher said was wrong.
With luck though and bearing in mind celebs have opinions on most things the good thing that could come from this is that a lot more will be on the dole as well.
Don't forget the positive though it shows yet another Tory in their true colours

I actually don't mind Jonathan Ross. His error with the Russell Brand thing was that as the more experienced broadcaster he should have called a halt to proceedings. With his 25 years of broadcasting experience he really should have known better.
Mind you he is probably as important to the Beeb as other presenters such as Clarkson who made the(actually just not funny)lorry driver joke on Top Gear and is still on.
Interesting to note that the girl at the centre of it all Sach's granddaughter has been disowned by Mr & Mrs Sachs apparently.

Thought you were smart when you took them on,
But you didnt take a peep in their artillery room,
All that rugby puts hairs on your chest,
What chance have you got against a tie and a crest.

Same weird thinking down here in Oz as far as I'm concerned.
Former Prime Minister Howard took this place from a debt-ridden, union controlled basket case to a thriving economy with a 22 billion dollar surplus and unemployment so low that workers could pick out the jobs they wanted. Our new Labor Government is spending money like a drunken sailor on pointless exercises to combat the world downturn and already we are heading for a massive debt, yet the media continue to kiss Prime Minister Rudd's arse.
I can't explain it.

Don't talk to me about racism, why doe's Black always come before White ie: "Its there in black and white". Its obvious that white is seen as the secondary, lesser colour.
Even worse, never mind the Robinson's Golly, what about the whiter than white guy on the Homepride jars and tins. He's even got a steriotypical bowler hat,how racist is that, take him off I say.!rant!
All the above is obviously tongue in cheek but I think you know where I'm coming from.

I was just thinking, I've actually been in a situation like this, messing about with some wigs, someone said, "your shadow looks like a golliwog head". Hardly an offensive use of the word.
Many years ago I was reported at work by an ultra sensetive person because, when someone asked me where the cig machine was, I said. "Over there, just behind where that black bloke is standing" Again, hardly offensive in my view. (and the managers)

Re: Jonathan Ross suspended, Carol Thatcher sacked..
one eyes jack, if you listen to the whole unedited thing (Ross and Brand) on YouTube, Ross does come in with "he f***ed your grandughter!!" and this would have been heard when Andrew Sach's played back his ansafone messages. Ross said it loud when Brand was talking down the phone in Sach's answering machine.
