Jonathan Ross suspended, Carol Thatcher sacked..

We all know what Ross did, and that just got him a suspension. Carol Thatcher last week apparently uttered the word 'golliwog' with reference to a tennis player, and she did it in prviate too (in the greenroom backstage at the BBC) and she is sacked. What Ross did was very public, personally offensive to the person it was aimed at (he left messages on Andrew Sach's ansafone "talking about "f***ing his grandaughter", and the radio listeners heard it all aswell). Carol Thatcher said this thing off-camera, about someone who would never have heard it as they were playing tennis on the other side of the world at the time, and she is booted out. What do people think about this, compared to Ross only getting a suspension? Does the fact that, with the way things are now, to utter racist language in Britain is even worse than being a mass murderer or a kiddie fiddler, possibly have something to do with it?

Max it was Russell Brand who made those comments. Wossie was only party to it by going along with it when he shouldve known better.

I notice noone ever stoped to think that it being a live show that he made a bad judgement call when he shouldve just told Russell he wa sbeing out of order.

It wouldve made great entertainment if JR was to rebuke him on air and the two got into a bitchfest....

Whether it was a joke or not it seemed to reflect that snobby superior attitude that the upper class folk seem to rarely show except among their own kind.

Nice to see that racist side exposed once in a while. It reminds me how some people know matter how educated they appear to be can appear as dumb, crass and ignorant as the common people they try to avoid being part of.

Maybe if it was such a joke she should have said it to the face of the said golliwog.

As it appears that Carol Thatcher spoke the said word in a racist manner then she got her just deserts, she knew the rules and got caught therefore she shouldnt have any complaints, i can remember when the said word was just a picture on a jar of jam or marmalade and was referred to as a golli and was never thought of as racist, in fact the gollis were perforated around the edges and people collected them and once you had a certain amount you got a free pot of jam, it was only a few do-gooders who decided this was racist.
