The only decent drama of the last few years was the first series of 'Life on Mars. Tony Jordan at his best.

Well, up to a point.
I do wish that the BBC would start to produce programmes of the quality it used to produce instead of all this rating grabbing rubbish.

Its always nice when someone echoes your thoughts. Ive been thinking this for years.
The Sopranos and Band of brothers were real excellent examples of good television series and I really liked Rome as well. That was quite hardcore for the BBC to have co produced I thought.
The episode of the gladiator fight where the bloke had his head stomped off with a shield was the most hardcore thing I saw on tv..not to mention plenty of nudity and sex that would have had the BBFC in a fit ie incest etc...All tastefully done of course and the production values on it rivalled anythign on the big screen

I always wondered about the lengths of our series' as well. Does this just come down to budget? Usually in the States seasons are at least 12 or 13 Episodes, with as much as 27 per season in some shows. But over here the standard is just 6 or 7. Is this just down to cost? Or because our writers can't come up with anything of a good standard for that many episodes?
