If you buy a pinepple for ?1.99 and its 99p down the road then you are wasting your hard earned.I can buy a toaster for ?4 from them. Why should I go to a local shop and pay ?25? Also their vege is fresh,If I want a nice steak I go to a good butcher .If I want mince then its Tesco.Sure Tesco are scallys in many ways but used well they are great.BTW when did you last go abroad.Their supermarkets are much more expensive .Some of these local shops are crap and deserve to go under and will.Bit like pubs really. It's the crap ones that are closing.

I disagree that their fruit/veg is fresh. I used to buy from tescos but always noticed that those products didn't seem to last that long.
Now I only buy from my greengrocer, not only does it last longer, its usually better quality and cheaper. The same go's for using my Butcher and also my local chemist, ok so i've got to spend a few extra minutes travelling but if it helps stop the corporate monster from getting too fat then good.
Also electrical goods are cheaper at the local hardware store, so in fact fuck knows why people use Tesco's at all apart from not being arsed walking about more than 1 place.

"I haven't seen a green-grocers for about ten years."
Reggie, I rarely venture to London now, as I think it's a cess-pitt, however, I am reliably informed by friends who live there, that there are plenty of fresh vegatable and fruit shops in most borough,s of the Capital, leaving me to assume you live IN the thames, and float around on an old fucking tyre.
ALL Tesco's should be shut down and replaced with local shops and green areas.
Waitrose's can stay.

that pineapple has probably come from south america for example then gone to a tesco distribution centre, then been put on another truck and then sent out to the store.

I dont buy and fruit or veg in a supermarket if I can help it.
I would sooner go to the locasl greengrocers.
I dont like the way people pick everything up,squeezed it,poke it,prod it before buying.
I also dont buy bread in a supermarket for the same reasons.
My dad was a truck driver and used to goto farms picking up produce and taking it to markets.Markets such as the old spitalfeilds market and the new one over at temple mills, borough market ,new covent garden and western international.
Back then borough market and the old spitalfeilds where proper markets not the poncy markets they are now.
Greengrocers would go and buy the fresh produce for their shops.
I can also remember the greek and cyprus spuds seasons.
Fuck me it was a mad rush to get to the ports like dover and newhaven to get the spuds off the boats and back to markets.I can remember going with him in the scholl holidays and it used to be every day 5am start and down to the docks then back to the london markets.
I dont think it happens now due to supermarkets taking over.

Parking in town is crap. The supermarkets are easy.Plus what about their great range? All under one roof.Another thing they do for twats like me is loads of nice ready meals..and some crap ones but if I dont like em I take em to customer service say I didnt like it and they refund me.They want me to be happy see and know that I will settle with something I like. Also this week Asda was doing a jar of curry sauce for 5p!Add some chicken and onions and peppers and it'd charm the pants off many girls.
Plus I get asked if I want help with my packing.
Waitrose is great but bloody expensive I think!

Tesco are not as cheap as they advertise - in fact the opposite is true.
I go to Morrisons and/or Pound Shops instead.

Tescos are getting expensive unlike when it was first started by slipper Jack [Jack Cohen] who purchased all of the surplus treacle from the army after WW1 and sold it on a stall in Londons east end, Pile it high and sell it cheap was his motto, unlike Tescos today who buy it cheap and sell it for as much as they can get !wink!

Heard from a friend who works in a big super market that specials tags arent always the best deal...their used to move stock thats not moving fast enough
Big Super markets are fine while theres enough competition but if they ever get to the stage where their at in Australia then say hello to huge price increases
SUPERMARKET giant Woolworths has admitted customers pay more for groceries in its Australian stores than in New Zealand.
This was recently shown to be true when a sydney man flew to New Zealand
did the shopping and came back.
He was a AUS100-00 better off shpopping in NZ
The main difference between the 2 countries was in one australia they were the market leader and could do what they want...in NZ they had fierce competition and had to match their competitor
