Well the American privacy laws aren't as tough as our DPA and the Canadian privacy laws, but they do have them and thats why the US webmasters are confident that the law will be thrown out.
I have had the same answer from all of them aswell about the question of a UK webmaster on a US server. Basically our DPA is why they say that we will not be targeted by the American lawmen.
I think it will get thrown out from what I have read but it won't be a quick fix.
The people at Danni.com are guessing between 1 to 2 years before anything happens. Things just don't happen quickly in Courts no matter what country you are in. So I guess they are going have to be complied with for a while at best!

But the bit that may stay is the US id required to work there.

The government here are also considering jail & unlimited fine for anyone knowingly employing an illegal worker (from outside EU and no work permit). They specifically mentioned the adult industry as a culprit, but more to do with prostitution than movies - as a percentage that must be low, although there are some.
