Andy has a point.

Furthermore you might come unstuck withthe very business you are trying to make a movie about but if you have them in place then so be it. Just remeber unless you get a broad view of the business it will only be for self promotion and gratification of the few that have agreed to do it.

I say this because I posted up recently a suggestion that I was planning on doing something like this and even offered to pay (shock! horror!)

Not one producer responded to that but to the other issue I was also discussing so my point is....Producers are a very cagey and jaded breed who dont want to be seen or documented because they simply dont want to be recognised for what they do.

Probably explains why Ben Dover is still top of the tree for recognition and the only real brand name a lot of non regular porn fans could name.

However I'll be glad to be proven wrong and wish you the best in your endeavours, but try to stay on course.

Just getting a bunch of people to say the industry is great could have a similar effect so you'll need to do your research properly as Andy said, it could be a very expensive and time consuming learning curve if nothing comes to fruition with an end product.

I dont think the programme made the porn industry out to be anything that I haven't heard people on this same said forum knocking it for..tats and fake tits anyone??? Remember Officer Dibble? Plenty more posters than him have had moans that are similar to this show.

If you want to redress the balance then you have to get involved. Complaining about it after with no involvement is a tad too late.

Besides, isnt Porn Week doing its bit to say how grand and wonderful it is to be in the porn industry?

If this project is ever to get off the ground you will need to carefully think through the best way to show porn in a balanced way ie: invite anti porn people to take part and have their say as well as pro porn folk. You can invite specific people to take part and if they decline you can mention this in the programme, why not invite ant- porn Harriet Harmon MP she would probably decline but at least you offered.

And of course you would need an attractive presenter for this documentry [im afraid i will not be available] preferably female could be an adult model, and as this film is a documentry it wont need classification providing it dosnt contain graphic sexual scenes but nudity is ok, therefore if you cannot sell it to a TV channel you still have the option of distribution on dvd, just a thought....

I think maybe one should take a look at Porn Week and leave it at that.

Im not sure a "voices from the porn industry thing" will work because people would think: Well they would say that wouldnt they and the problem with your idea Planet is that nobody will offer to do it.

Ive found when its time to stand up and be counted, everyone suddenly has other presing engagements to do.

While I think Dazs idea is great Im gonna be a grumpy old fucker and say it will never happen because to many people in the industry have their own agenda and the ones you would like to talk wont take part.

Its funny that a couple of people who have offered to assist are film students (no offence to those students) but they have no experience of the adult industry whatsoever and those with experience might prefer the public see it as this shady grey area as that is really part of its appeal that draws people in.

If you dont get to sell it on tv I hardly think anyone would want to buy a dvd about people talking about the porn industry when they could download so much of it for free and see the real thing.

However there are many opportunitys to get an audience for your programme without having to sell it to the tv stations. Think about the guys behind The Zeitgeist Movie"...They must be allowing it to be used for free but yet they have still made a lot of money out of it and thats without selling it to tv stations!

In answer to Daz original question, yes I will be doing one but it will be about myself and what I do as i dont feel I need to speak up for the industry and by talking about myself and what i do it may offer some insight and yes it will be gratuitous self promotion and indulgent !happy! and no doubt I will get flamed like Jade Goody but then I would know that, love it or hate it, people have watched it.

Thats what it is all about and anything less is a waste of time!

All I'm attempting here is something that shows this industry in at least a fair and reasonable light.

My format will negate most of the issues you have raised and and as for people offering help I have had some very interesting emails to say the least!

The assumption of some here seems to be that we (all of us) are a rat-taggle band of reprobates who couldn't possibly understand the intricacies of modern television or utter numpties who could never actually negotiate something like this into a TV slot.
I utterly refute that suggestion. Maybe it'll happen - maybe it wont. Maybe it'll be picked up by a channel or network - maybe it won't but to just assume that we don't stand a chance because we're a set of gibbering idiots is pure fantasy.
Do I sound like I didn't get an education? Do I sound like someone who couldn't function outside of the adult industry? You couldn't possibly guess what industry I came from so it annoys me that the immediate assumptions is that nobody in the business has the nous to do this right. Yes the logistics are going to be a nightmare and producing and then selling this will be all uphill to say the least but if even one tiny station in Guatemala buys the thing it may raise interest in stations in other places... who the fuck knows?
I work on the principle of can-do until proved otherwise...
