Pornstars After They Were Famous
Re: Pornstars After They Were Famous
I think they fell out - I'm sure Layla Jade will confirm if she feels the need to!
Re: Pornstars After They Were Famous
I remember reading something along those lines.

Ambivalence Zevon .. it's the defining feature of postmodernity.

Warren. Thanks for your reply.
To pick up on your points: I agree that ex-pornstars will have difficulty getting certain jobs, and as they don't want to limit themselves when they leave the biz they are not going to be so open about it if future employers may find out. But what are your views on why they don't tell friends and family, when they would tell them about any other job they did? This suggests to me that even the girls themselves think it may be something that is seedy - otherwise why be so reticent about it?
Next: you mention how some people may not have realised that these porn girls are acting. I don't view porn as 'acting' as such. It's a real life documentary where real activity is filmed. It is probably more comparable to sport than Hollywood movie making: in sport the thing is actually, really, happening - and the cameras catch it - Hollywood movies, soap operas, etc, that is acting. An example of how this is more than 'acting': I'm a fan of Laura Hermansen, among others, and she has admitted in interviews I've seen her do that she is a full-blown exhibitionist and you can see how excited she gets when the camera is on her. She admits this on some websites too. She has also confessed to absolutely loving sex. So the action is real, certain real desires are being fed: the enjoyment of a good shag, and the pleasure derived from exhibitionism, if you are one like Laura is.
On your last point: why would someone have a desire to find out what these people are doing now, and whether the person believes they can become their real life friend: my only interest in what a former pornstar, whose films I like, would be doing now is curiousity, and I'm sure that would be the same for most other people who may be interested. Same as wondering what the former members of a certain band may be doing now - a band that were famous and I was into, a few years back - and where all the members have now vanished off the radar.
That is seen as ok. Interest in what an ex-pornstar is doing is deemed weird by some. Waiting near the stage door of a music venue to meet and shake hands with your favourite rock star is seen as ok, wanting to meet your favourite pornstar makes you a weirdo - in the eyes of some. These people wanted fans, needed fans to sustain their ongoing activity in the porn field - in order to get re-booked and to be paid well for what they did. It seems that when they get these fans they often don't like it. I'm sure this applies to both still active pornstars and former ones too.

Re: Pornstars After They Were Famous
Warren. Thanks for that. some interesting comments.
On the issue of someone not telling their folks, I don't think it's about being more open minded about shagging than their folks are. I mean a mum and dad could know that their 22 year old daughter 'puts it about' and she may not have too much problem with them knowing that - I knew a girl who went crazy at University and told her mother, who wasn't bothered - so long as she played it safe. A girl who is a pornstar, like I've said, would be much less keen for her parents to know that she did that for a living than that she put it about a bit and was quite promiscious.
On the issue of the fans things, people wanting autographes or having an interest in what their favourite stars are doing, I don't think it is weird to want a signed photo, a chat, or have a photo taken with someone you are into - be it a rockstar or a pornstar that you like. I mean quite a few people will be attending the forthcoming BGAFD party and many will want to meet their favourite stars and have their pictures taken. (not me - I'm not going) but I imagine some attendees will do that.
It doesn't seem weird to me. People waiting to meet the singer of the Kaizer Chiefs as he leaves the back door of the Brixton Academy aren't odd, just fans.
