You are entitled to your view, Guilbert- many thanks for the gratuitous personal abuse which made my day....
Please go to Scotland- somewhere like Kinross-shire that returned Alec Douglas-Home to Parliament in the 60s.... and a Nationalist now; stand in the market place of a town there and announce your love of Thatch.
I think that you will then soon find out that she changed many things and people in Britain for good. And in most cases for worse.

If the BBC is now so squeaky clean that they even sack people for an off the cuff remark that they say backstage, then where will it all end? If someone who presents a very clean image on TV, like a kids TV presenter, swears like mad to his colleague in the green room (saying someone like "I just got a parking ticket from some do-gooder c*** traffic warden who should shot!!" or something similar), should that person be sacked?
Or do remember when the BBC kids department DID sack that guy, TV presenter Richard Bacon, because he was exposed as having snorted some white powder? A certain radio DJ, who has ginger hair and wears glasses, was up in arms about it. He said it was terrible to sack Bacon because "there are so many people at the BBC who snort the white powder they would have to sack half the Corporation!"
So should there be whistleblowers who operate as moles within the BBC who run to the management if someone says something, or is rumoured to take drugs, or whatever? Following this Carol Thatcher incident it seems like the BBC has turned into a Police State!

Never mind the correction, Max. We all hate the Thatchers. The End [for Britain as a single state if the Tories ever get back in...]

Hi Max..If that is how it went down then I stand corrected. I just got tired of hearing it on the news that week it all kicked off and that is not how I heard it but you know what the news is like right?
Heidi : Black comes before white because its in alphabetical order. B is before w...On another note I must say its rather refreshing to see some white people being frustrated about feeling like second class citizens in their own country. I see a lot worse going down in places like Africa and opinions here so its hard for me to sympathise...Even though I still do because Ive got a big heart like that.
Maybe now you can imagine what it was like for the other people that Britain colonised for so many years and all those who had to sit on the back of the bus during the 50's and 60's and all the pubs that used to say; "No Blacks Allowed". I dont think your frustration from all this political correctness comes even close.
Yeah you all may hate me if you want for my opinion but the truth always hurts.
Now we have true equality.

I find mainstream television grossly offensive. Dumbed-down morning tv for the hard-of-thinking is nigh on unbearable - remedial current affairs and talk-shows full of dumb slags, and the very sight of yet more hand-wringing po-faced newscasters sat there churning out more cliches in the name of 'news' makes we want to destroy my television set. 'The One Show' is an example of the tv equivelant of 'Take A Break' magazine that the super-dumb 21st Masses are lapping up, and it wants sacking never mind Carol Thatcher.
I note that ITV are cutting down their quality drama as the DFS advertising budget decreases, they ought to stop buying in abysmal games shows like Jasper Carrot's GoldenCunts instead.
Most kids tv is actually better made and less patronising than the mainstream equivalent.
If people are so shocked and concerned by an off-the-cuff remark they didn't hear by someone they don't actually know, then they need to take a reality check (and perhaps a handful of barbiturates at the same time)

Totally agree with your appraisal of the state of tv today Dynatech, but Carol Thatcher is till a cunt for saying what she did, although hardly suprising looking at who she popped out of.

Anyone who thinks the Ross/Brand show went out live really hasn't been paying attention.
Carol Thatcher was stitched up by PC cunts at the BBC shit scared of being thought of as racist. However the One Show is utter shit, and she's better off without it imo.

Make of the comment what you will, but the incident was in private and should've been dealt with in-house and not splashed across the front pages.
If the BBC do genuinely wish to deal with the various -isms they're sometimes accused of, then they should begin and end with themselves. Turning a faux-pas like this into a PR stunt looks a little suspicious.

Since a Gollywog was a toy, saying someone has hair like a gollywog isn't really racist, it's an opinion. Unless we can go back in time and uninvent the Gollywog, it's there in history, for good or for bad. It's a word that is racist if used in the wrong way, but for people over 50 who grew up with seeing these dolls - and probably never really associated them to black people, the use of the word in certain situations can sort of just slip out without thinking.
