Eric, I agree with you that Osama's bro's are totally estranged from him and the Yorkshire Ripper's family example is a good one. I do think though that as the Bin Laden name was the most vilified and reviled name on earth (I believe that within hours of 9/11 most people were sure it was Osama who had done it - he had, after all, attacked two US embassies in Africa, killing huge numbers of people, and attacked American naval ships in the Persian Gulf - that it was a big tasteless for the father of the US President to meet one of the family. Ironically Osama's bro was there to discuss giving money to Carlisle, which would make money for the President's dad (and our former PM), and in order to buy arms and they would likely have been sold back to the American government, and used, in part, to try and track down Osama! Aswell as all of this, it is wrong that the father of the President can make money selling arms to the US government. Bush Jnr would have just given the contract to Carlisle as it helps his old man.

He's probably long dead. But it's good to pretend he's still out there posing a threat - it justifies spending lots of money on campaigns and helps the passing of stricter laws to oppress our freedoms.

No different to NL spouting this week about the high risk of terrorist attacks in the UK! It's utter crap, the risk this week is no more than any other week - it's all meant to stop us thinking about the financial crisis and Brown's utter balls up on everything he touches. As someone said on the radio this morning, every time he opens his mouth the ? falls 2 cents against the dollar.

How portable is his dyalisis machine?

OBL has kidney malfunction and must be on dyalisis for several hours a day. So how mobile can he be?

I agree with what people are saying that Osama needs to be 'on the run' and potetially able to do something bad again in order to keep the American public in line and then, out of fear, they will vote for certain politicians and keep them in office. In Michael Moore's film "Fahrenheit 9/11" this is covered. I wonder if he will EVER be found. I wonder if they will ever really want to find him.

I can't see how it would take over seven years for US forces, with thermal cameras, infra red night vision drone planes to locate suspects hiding in the mountain ranges of Afgan and Pakistan. I know it's big, but seven years! Also as he is reported to need dialysis, it would make it harder for him to move around as much as I would guess he'd like.

And you can't compare Bin Laden to others who've been on the FBI most wanted list for a long time, because Bin Laden's face is known world wide. The other's on the list could be anywhere, whereas it's pretty well assumed that OBL is in the mountains.

Plus Bin Laden was a CIA asset named Tim Osman, so they must have an idea of associates and who he mixes with.

Irrespective of the other conspiracy theories, I don't understand why he hasn't been found. And if he's dead, why both Al Queda and the Americans are pretending he's still alive? Surely only one side could gain a tactical advantage from this? That's if we take the official record at face value.

And what if he shaved off his beard, dyed his hair ginger and had plastic surgery? If he is dead the US will simply invent another enemy, maybe some tribal chief in the mountains of Peru who has several ICBMs and 100000 trained suicide bombers.
