I bet it's to do with some stupid law about hours you can work or something like that. It would probably cost them more if they did it quicker. That is the kind of thing the Beeb are famous for

I don't think it is 9 months to shoot it though, more like 2-3 months maybe then the other 6-7 to add the CGI and other special effects. Band of Brothers was not shot by the BBC only co-funded and the follow up THE PACIFIC produced by Spielberg and Hanks does look like some of the finest TV ever:

PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?
