The point is, any drive without insurance is a problem. and how can these drivers from outside the UK be able to drive on our roads without British number plates that can be tracked to a home address in the UK. If we were in Europe living we would have to have a European number plate.

My Girlfriend passed her test last year, 6 months later a Polish lorry drive parked on a 'roundabout' Yes, "parked on a roundabout" pulled out on her and wrote her car off. He didn't speak any English and his lorry was registered in Poland. We got nothing, just a huge bill we had to pay to get the car fixed! The Police were usless and we were told they would get back to us. despite calling a dozen time we had no word that the drive was prosicuted.

So if a true Brit is driving a stolen vehicle and is uninsured, crashes into you and then drives away and abandons the vehicle there is a good prospect of his being apprehended by the Police and brought to book because he's 'legal' in terms of residency ?

Ahh Cate, you poor thing. Sorry to hear about this is sucks! I had something similar happen... Got hit up the arse on the motorway by polish driver too. It was a no brainer whose fault it was (when someone drives straight into your back on a straight road) but i had to fight like you wouldnt believe, as they contested it was my fault. Their statement was a hilarious fabrication of the incident, describing me indicating, swerving and essentially throwing my car in front of them. Fortunately we got an accident investiagtor to look at both of the cars and it was obvious it was a direct collision. Plus I had a bloke in the car, so that counted as a witness. My advice is dont give up, if i had let it go i might of had to pay my excess and all sorts. In the end, i didnt lose my no claims or nothing. But they were, thank god, insured. Seriously though, if you at no fault at all, just make your voice heard. Ring, and ring, and ring. Dont give up, i know its a hell of a lot of hassle, but you'll get there. Good luck babe x
