"The estimate for UK population is about 62.5 million. Got that!"
Well thats an estimate according to a shares website, not an official figure David, and although not at your intellectual level I'm pretty sure that even 62.5 is not double 52.3 !confused!
Could you provide me with a graph showing that it is, you seem to have been searching hard for one?
Or do you have the estimate of a shares website for the UK population in 1960, it might help you out of this spot?
"It states that England represents about 85% of UK population. That's about 53 -54 million without taking into account illegal immigration."
Er right, is that double the UK population of 52.3 million in 1960, its probably just because your brain is fizzing on another level to mine, but I can't see how it is
!oops!

In the last 2 days it has been reported that the Police in London are going to start meeting gang leaders in an atempt to get them to begin 'ceasfires'. This has been goin on in america for years, 'summits' occur between Police chefs and powerful gang bosses and the Police agree to not arrest them for anything if they admit to being the leader of that gang, which is known to be armed and in possession of weapons, and the Police will hope they agree. If not the Police go after that gang in a major way.
Firstly, they will have to be able to prove the guy is the head of the gang, he is unlikely to admit to it and even if the Police know they are hindered because they can't prove it. Second, there is no advantage at all for the gang boss or his firm for him to admit he is the boss and to go and meet with th Police. He will be entering a situation where he has to agree that his gang will stop what they are doing or they will have the Police on ther bacs eve more. The only way i think this could work is if a 'plea deal' is done. The Police say they know about certain activities, they have evidence, the gang boss and/or some of his firm abou going to be going to prison for these recent crimes but if they agree to a ceasrfire and a halt to all to their activities they will either get less severe sentences or be let off. Otherwise why on earth wuld the gang boss want to meet with the Police?
It is a shame we have got to this point, where gangs in British cities argoing to be viewed similar to the IRA were and regarded as an official body the Police can negotiate with - rather than just street criminals who get slung in jail if they do bad things. I wonder if ultra-liberal thinking idiot like Roy Jekins back in the 1970s ever though our society would evolve to this?

I read this in two newspapers yesterday. Which were, I think, The Daily Mail and The Sun. Here are two links I have found online about it:

Thanks for the links, but they bear hardly any connection at all with what you have written above. The police initiative is not about some kind of deal "not to arrest" more a realisation that the kids in these gangs haven't had a stint at Eton, followed by attendance at Oxford, prior to deciding to shoot people with an Uzi. A lot of these kids appear to have been failures all of their lives - pretty bad families in some cases, not much education, possibly a drug problem etc. What the initiative appears to be about is saying to these kids that we can help you get off the drugs, try to get an education spend time with peers who gave up gang life but if you dont play ball we will come down like a ton of bricks.
Seems sensible enough to me.

I didn't read those, I read this in two newspapers yesterday. I just dug around online in response to your request for proof and found those. One could probably find a few more online aswell.

I had already done a search on the web, finding next to nothing when I asked you if you had any links to what you read.
Can't find anything linked to the Sun or Daily Mail. And as I said the links you did put are completely different in tone from the content of your post.

From where I sit,a lot of this(but not all) appears to be committed by first or second generation immigrants, who bring their bad habits with them(eg lack of respect for human life, fathering multiple children etc). What can be done with them? Not much.It is far too late.
