Re the long winded thread started as how to contact models and then degenerating into who does what for whom, why and how ad nauseum, it seems to me that if I understand the English language correctly, an amateur is one who pursues a course of action for his own gratification and a professional is one who pursues the same (or other) for financial reward.
"Professionals" seems to be the label attatched to anyone who has been in the biz for some years and "amateur" seems to be the label for up and coming producers/distributers.
Cannot see the distinction or indeed the the need. As far as I'm concerned, if a product is of saleable quality then it makes no difference who the hell shot it and when. Competition is the spice of life and everyone has to start someplace. With one notable exception, I do not know of any "pro" who begrudges a newcomer. Live and die by your own efforts and good luck.
