I was looking at various modeling sites and found that some of the H/C actresses state that they will work with amateur photographers and film makers. It seems to me like it could be a lot of fun making my own movie (just for my own personal use) and hopefully be in it myself...
Has anyone had experience of hiring models to make their own films for their own private collection? Is there anyone (models) interested in doing this?
Any advice or input would be gratefully received.

I made one a good few years back with a friendly, if rough looking lady. It cost ?60 for an hours work which involved solo by her and duo with me. Although it was a lot of fun, the results were dodgy. Camera shake, unfocused shots and one dimensional shagging were the main feature. Out of an hours tape, I think 10 minutes were acceptable. I now realise that a cameraman is paramount, you can't do 2 jobs at once. If a cameraman is hired (extra expense) your mind will not be on the job in hand, especially if you are a keen amateur, and not a professional actor. You will become impotent and aware the cameraman might be sniggering at your half-arsed attempts at being the Porn Star you imagine you are. Make an appointment with a model and film her solo and get to know your camera/camcorder well. Once you have mastered that, approach your model with your 'fantasy' The chances are she will say 'no' and you are back to square 1. To hire a model who will participate with this will cost a lot more than you imagine, unless you approach a 'working girl' who will be a lot more cheaper and available than a respectable model. Thats not to say you could hit lucky, but bear in mind studio hire/cameraman's fees/models fees and release forms. Good Luck!!

I approached a girl in the biz and was given a figure of ?350 which may seem steep but all I had to do was turn up and perform, a cameraperson was supplied etc. *Don't* even and ask for her name cause I won't tell.

You WILL get bored of watching yourself over and over again, as for distribution, its a VERY dodgy business trying to get a company to accept/edit it etc, then what do you expect after its been 'distributed'? any financial gain will be meagre!!

I was involved with an attempt to make a video a few months back but I think that the guy trying to organise it was perhaps a little too enthusiastic without being very practical. He wanted to shoot a four guys on one girl scenario (nothing like trying a simple thing first!) and had a couple of girls lined up for it (for reference their quoted fee was in the ?500 to ?1000 bracket) but when he tried to get some guys interested strangely none of them apart from me wanted to put any money in. He also didn't have a video camera.... Not surprisingly, nothing happened.

This was actually a good lesson in how not to do things but taking on board the previous experience I'm now looking to organise shooting a video myself. Although it won't be for publication, it will be done at a proper studio and planned properly. James, if you're interested in being involved then do contact me. I have a couple of girls already lined up but if there are any models who may be interested (rates etc. to be discussed) then do let me know.

Er...maybe I'm missing something, but has anyone here thought of trying amateur girls? They'll do it for free 'cos they're dirty. Don't assume you can get away with any perversion you fancy with the first girl that comes along - but go to the amateur bulletin boards or yahoo clubs or whatever, and you'll find plenty of anal specialists, watersports fans, the full monty.

Amateurs may be the solution to the old catch-22 that to be a good porn maker you need practice, and practice is expensive. You'll have to hire facilities, editing suites, and at least one girl for every attempt. And you'll need maybe three attemts to produce something watchable, even for you sitting at home. Get a girl for free and your costs are halved.

That's if you're doing it for fun and your own use. If you actually want to put together something marketable - even for the pro-am market - then it's far more sensible (and cost effective) to hire a pro camerman, experienced editing services and a decent looking (probably pro) girl, right from the off. It would take you AGES - and thousands of pounds - to get good enough to do all these technical things yourself (to a saleable standard) and you'd still need a skilled mate to do the actual camerawork.

It is my understanding that in the porno business it is standard practice for all actresses & actors to bring negative HIV test certificates to the shoot. Presumably if you were making an amateur film and followed the same rules you wouldn't be expected to use condoms? Perhaps the guys who have contacted actresses would know the answer to this?

HIV negative certificate do not exist in UK, the USA issue them, but any results from a blood test for HIV are discussed 1 to 1 with the Genio-Urinary dept and the client. Certificates are not issued, however, the results are passed on to the appropriate parties, ie Endownment policies, Immigration Offices and your own GP. Certificates are not issued. Honesty is your only policy, and in the porno business, honesty is as rare as a 10 man, 1 woman inter-racial anal gangbang!

In the two projects I was involved in, five years or so ago now, we wore condoms because it was a totally amateur production for amateur circulation. I wouldn't really want to shag a random (and evidently promiscuous) woman up the arse without a condom and I didn't expect her to either. I know condoms are not eveybody's cup of tea but if you're doing amateur work there's no alternative. As one correspondant said, I don't know of any clinics in the UK which issue US-style "certificates" - there would probably be considerable resistance in the UK medical profession to doing so.
