HIV testing

Post by John Mason »

I've read with interest most of the debate about the 30 day testing and decided it was time to point out that first off I'm fully in favour of the 30 day std test, but until we can get a private clinic to do the dna testing (like in the USA) at an affordable rate, I feel the 30 day HIV test is not good enough.
Secondly, for all those who feel you can get 'free' testing done at NHS trust hospitals (although you normally have to wait a week) remember this:
You go to an NHS hospital, they need to know who your GP is. Once they've got this imformation you are truly fucked!
Why? Because if you ever at a later date decide to buy a house and get a morgage you won't be able to get one! Why? Because to get a morgage you need life insurance and if there is a record of you EVER having an HIV test (regardless of the result) you will be declined insurance cover. The insurance company will write to you GP and that is one of the questions that they will ask.
The answer? go private. I know it will cost between ?60 - 100 for an HIV test but if you ever want a morgage it's the only way.
I know this because I've just bought a house, but I was lucky because I'm always used the Regents Park Clinic and never bothered with the NHS hospitals.
And lastly, although this whole thing is a step in the right direction, I feel unless EVERY performer and EVERY producer in the business gets behind this it will be a wasted effort for those who do.
Performers need to stop fucking girls not in the business without condoms! (I know this goes on I've seen it!)
Performers need to stop doing escort work (condoms never break do they!)
Producers and agents need to either get tested the same as the performers or stop trying to fuck the new girls who don't know any better(you know who you are!)
And certain male performers need to stop doing gay escort work (even if you are using condoms!)
I know I'll probably get blasted for this post but those of you who know me know that I always speak my mind.
For my part, I'm going to personally get tested every 30 days, but I'm going to leave it up to the individual performers to do what they feel comfortable with.

John

I am meeting with a UK medical company on Monda to arrange rates for full PCR DNA tast all over the UK as part of BAIHA.

Sorry but some of your points are not right, NHS clinics do not ask for the name of your GP, spome may, but GUM clinics do not. I can not say for all the clinics over the UK but just the ones I have used.

I trust that we can confirm this package early next week on PCR DNA test and that ALL performers and producers will use it and only work with people that have the right level of test. Time will tell.

It is time now for everybody to stop talking and start doing......people that do not work to the highest level will be found out and pushed out of the industry.

As soon as I have more details I will let everybody know.

Good to hear your sorting out the DNA testing, but unless you can get it to around ?100 I think you may find it difficult to get all the performers to sign up.
Also, most of the regional NHS trust hospitals DO ask for your GP's details, so it might be worth publishing a list of those that DON'T so that the performer on a 'budget' knows where to go.
Keep up the good work!

GP Details...

Post by JackHorny »

I was told by Indigo that the only reason they ask for GP details is in the event that they need to contact the GP to arrange follow-up treatments should a nasty be discovered.

I don't think details are shared as a matter of course - but having said that - who knows!
I retired when I sadly realised nobody wanted me!

John what you are saying is wrong NHS GUM clinics do NOT ask for GPs details and do NOT share your information. i have been going to GU clinics for ten years now and probably 90% of my HIV tests have been done there and never have they asked for even so much as my GP's name and in that time i have hade 5 mortgages and most GU's offer a very good service you can usualy get the results in 5 days some will even give you a cert free of charge and most will only charge an admin charge ov around ?30 if you are an organised sort of person this is a cost effective maens of getting your certs.
if any one is in any doubt about who has got this wright phone your local NHS GU clinic and ask them, not only will they tell you they do not share your information with ANY third party but that they are not allowed to infact you dont have to give your correct details (there words not mine) thoe doin this would not be of use to a performer as there cert would not match there id's

I agree, i used the local GUM clinic to me, when i had my Test Shoot with Layla, a fair while back, they DID NOT ask for my details, all they needed was a First Name, & a Year of Birth.

I managed to get a Cert off them the following week, which is what i produced at the Shoot.

But as a diff thread i posted on earlier, this "Local Clinic" is over 30 Miles from me, there is NO other clinic in this entire county, or the 3 other counties this "Local Clinic" serves. And to top it all off, now (since September last year) they now WILL NOT supply you with a Cert of your results, you can "View" your result, but they keep it, you do not even get a copy of the basic medical form the Clinic gets from the result. Even offering to "Pay Money" for the Cert will NOT get you a copy.

So the news from JFT is very good news.

Ian,

you live in London and as Jason pointed out certain NHS trust hospitals DON'T ask for your GP's details, but that's not true for the whole country. Your GP is also part of the NHS and therefore isn't a third party.
When the insurance companies write to your GP they are not asking for personal details just questions relating to life cover. i.e. have you got a heart condition, ever been treated for cancer, had an HIV test etc. etc.
We all know that insurance companies are slippery fuckers when it come to paying out large sums of money and that they look for any excuse no to pay!

As with this whole 30 day testing, it's better to be safe than sorry and it's better to make all the performers aware of ALL the risks rather than just selected ones!

John i have just this minute got off the phone to the senior staff for the london GU clinics she confirmed what i had said is correct and informed me that not only do they not share information with GP's but that it is illegal for them to do so unless you give your written consent and that GU's accross the country are bound by these rules. Still in doubt contact

Mayday nhs trust
Kingston nhs trust
St Georges nhs trust
St Thomas (Lambeth)
Kings college hospital
Woolwich
St Peters (Guildford)
Leatherhead
Roehamton
Crawley
Bromley
Beckenham

I could go on but think that is plenty to choose from and as you can see there are plenty OUT side London there.
