Given that we are part of a multi-cultural society, why are there so few glamour models of black and Asian origin? Is it that they are morally less likely to go into the business, or is it that there is little demand for a beautiful woman whose skin is not white or whose features are not considered attractive to western/European tastes?
Does it speak of some prejudice that we are not acknowledging or are not aware of? Is the Viz stereotype of Cockney Wanker complaining because there's "a sooty" on Page 3 of his Sun a true reflection of Britain today (Incidentally, there were rumours a few years back that The Scum had stopped using black models on Page 3 because of complaints and a drop in sales when they appeared; if true, this is appalling--but it is, perhaps, no coincidence that the majority of models who appear there these days are blondes).
There are probably more coloured models at work in the porn business, but the situation is much the same. There have been many threads on this forum relating to Charmaine Sinclair, a very few about other models, some few inquiries relating to Indian/Pakistani models, but little other input on the subject.
Personally, if I find a woman beautiful, that's it--no matter what her colour or ethnic origin.
I don't want names of models who work/worked in the industry--just people's opinions on the subject because I'm curious. Recent events have brought the subject of race to the fore, and shown me that my country is not as tolerant as I once believed.
Alec, Phil and Woodgnome are free, as far as I'm concerned, to delete this post if it is deemed inappropriate and this thread if it becomes in any way racially abusive.

Re: Race
The tabloid press could quite posibly be racist. The porn industry at large may also be. Look at titles such as "nigger fuck" (admitedly a German release) but also USA releases along the lines as "big black ho`s" or "White bitches take big black cocks". These titles indicate an unhealthy pandering towards the more prejudiced audience. Even some of BD`s silly scenes with Asian models pretending to be innocent young muslim girls experiencing thier first taste of Super Marios white penis cater to racists but they also cater to men who are not racist but have a natural curiosity about girls from different cultures. I personally find Jade Newman (an asian) very sexy but have yet to find a British afro-caribean star with the same sexual allure. This does not mean black girls are less sexy. It just means there are not enough in porn to make a valid judgement
I AM NOT A RACIST.

Re: Race
the subject matter is entirely appropriate, although any racist crap, obviously, would not be! let's hope we can keep the finger off the delete button!
first off i have to say i'm writing about the brit industry, not the stateside behemoth, which is a very different hovercraft full of eels.
i guess you do have to make allowances for differing cultural attitudes and the smaller population groups from which non white girls are drawn. however, after taking these factors into consideration, i still think there is an under representation of females from these groups - especially those of an afro-carribean background who (generally speaking) don't have the same cultural baggage to contend with, as those with an islamic heritage.
imo, the industry is no more racist than football nowadays. the fundamental problem lies with the reason porn is made by those who make it - i.e. profit! in theory capitalism is supposed to create consumer choice through competition. what can also happen though is a narrowing of choice, caused by the fear driven conservativism which competitive markets can create.
some proof of this lies in the fact that it's not only models of an ethnic background who are becoming as rare as hens teeth. if your white with black hair, your chances of success seem to be greatly reduced, too! night after night all you see, on the adult channel are blondes, blondes and more blondes! 'a-levels' last night - 2 blondes; 'ally mcsqueal' following it - 4 blondes! how many blondes do you see when you walk down the high street? not many, i'll warrant. why do so many girls in the biz hit the (peroxide) bottle then?
it's because the industry is obsessed with pandering to it's own generic construct of what the *average* viewer wants to see. their concern isn't with producing great sex programmes, or even a wide variety of them. their primary business is the macdonald-isation of porn, part of which involves turning viewers into expertly groomed pavlovian half-wits, eager to respond to the prepackaged assembly line fodder put before them. blonde is simply the industry equivalent of the big mac!
the fact that this standardization excludes any number of women on the basis of race, or even hair colour, is irrelevant to them. what might not be irrelevant in the long run, is that their their low concept crap is boring the arse off of a growing number of their customers, with each passing day.
some of you reading this may know that one of my very favourite stars is blonde, so i don't have a problem with that hair colour per se. BUT, i do have a problem with the direction the industry is going in, with it's ever narrowing representation of womankind. it's boring and it's wrong.
no,i don't think the industry is actively racist (institutionally racist, perhaps?) - just unimaginative, conservative and largely run by men. apart from that, everything's fine!

Re: Race
I personally think it comes down to your preferences. I have a friend of mine who is white who will only shoot Indian girls. He runs UK Indian based sites but this is what turns him on.
I think if you go out and try to create content that is not your fetish then it does not work because you are trying to make something for someone you do not understand.
I have tried to run gay sites and failed massivily because I am not gay. Gay's do not actually like pink fluffy stuff!!!
The production houses are going to cater for the main stream as this is where the money is. You could also argue that the industry is anti-disabled as you never see one legged models yet disabled people still shag.
Personally I think glamour and porn models should be only used if they have brown straight long hair, medium breasts size and are tanned, why? because this is what I like!

Re: Race
I both agree and disagree with the above postings. Why do so many glamour models have blonde hair? Beats me.
But most producers don't actively go out of their way to select girls by ethnicity or hair colour - they just want a girl who can look and act well to be in their productions.
I could go on about Elen Cole or Tia or Dawn Slater or Wan being used in mine and various other people's productions. But one of the biggest problems is that even before girls enter the industry they think they have to go blonde to be successful due to past form.
My next series CA2 does have two blondes as the main girls - Tamara Noon and Carri Lee - but they weren't chosen because of their hair colour, they were chosen because they were gorgeous, intelligent and talented. (cool, I made a point and plugged my show to boot.)
Anyway, that's my tuppence worth.
Tiddy Bye Bye.

Re: Race
So far as American porn is concerned, there are many 'ebony' titles which seem to be aimed mainly at the black market, but whether they are in proportion to the population I don't know.
There is also a large 'interracial' market. Interestingly, black guys fucking white girls seems to be much more popular than vice versa. E.g. the Gangland series (a bunch of black guys fucking white girls) is up to #23, while its WM/BF counterpart, Gangland White Boy Stomp, is only up to about #5.
Some of the promotion for interracial porn (e.g. Jake Steed's Little White Chicks series) seems to be based on the assumption that black men go around seducing/raping white girls, but I'm not sure who this message is really aimed at. Jake Steed presents himself very much as the black stud 'pimping those ho's' (which is odd, as he is whiter than some of the 'white' girls in his videos!), but I would guess his audience is as much white as black.
Personally, I just fast-forward through the bullshit and concentrate on the action!

Re: Race
In reply to why do the models hit the (peroxide) bottle.
I have naturally light brown hair and before I decided to try modelling I decided to go blonde. It had nothing to do with work.......I just fancied a change.
It didn't take me long to realise that although this is not mandatory you do get more work. I have recently had to transform myself to what you all call the stereo-type. (the pic of me on this site is now very out of date) My hair is now much longer, I am more tanned and toned and why? Because I wanted to do more work and this was the best way of getting it. I recently decided to go back to my natural colour and the response I got when I mentioned this was 'I'm sorry but that's not what we want'. It doesn't matter that I would look better for it, the attitude was blonde is best.
The fact is that this is a job and we have to market ourselves to the buyers. This won't change until the market does. If you want it shoot different looks then you have to create the jobs for people. Would you work in an industry if you got hardly any work?
It's a shame but to be far to the models we are giving you what you ask for........

Re: Race
what you say backs up my point, except it's not so much what punters ask for that counts, as what the industry wants to give them. henry ford said - "you can have any color you want, as long as it's black!". the choice of colour makes it ironic but the same production line principle applies.
why do you have to be blonde? because that's what the producers want? why do the producers want that? because it's what the paying customers want. why do the paying customers want that? er, because they can have any colour they like, as long as it's blonde!
if a girl can't find work because of her hair colour, how much more impact is the colour of her skin going to have? i wouldn't necessarily deem it racism on an individual level, because it's not her blackness that's the prime issue but her lack of blondeness! as a form of institutional racism though, the case seems pretty cast iron.

Re: Race
the point about doing best what turns you on, is a good 'un. on that basis, i would ask any brit producers into girl/girl to follow their hearts desire!
american all girls series are legion. over here though - outside of the stuff being produced for satellite tv - the amount of boy-free vids being made remains minimal.
is there no demand for it? i thought it was the most common male (and female) fantasy? seems like there's a gap in the market, to me.

Re: Race
'I AM NOT A RACIST' - I am not sure what that is supposed to mean. Does it mean 'I don't go beating-up people who are 'black', 'indian','asian','a different race'.
'nigger' in german I think is supposed to mean 'black' -(Arnold Schwartzenegger - the negger means black (black forest?)
Even (some) 'black people' are racist.
