Guys in porn

Post by Rimbaud »

Just hoping to canvass some opinion on what you guys think of male porn performers. Not who's-the-best, etc. - that's been done a thousand times. But - what do you expect from a male performer? How much does a good, or bad, male performer enhance your enjoyment of a film?

Obviously there are the basics. If your cock's not hard, why are you there? But often, fans regard male stars as interchangeable beyond the basic requirement of reliable tumescence. To me, however, there's one respect in which a male star can make a big difference - personality.

How good the porn girls are at non-sexual acting makes little difference to me. If a girl can't act, but can still deliver a scorching performance with her sex scenes, I'm in love with her. That's where the sexual hook in a porn film lies. Men, on the other hand, come into their own before the shagging starts.

The men usually take the sexual initiative in porno, and a good male performer will take this opportunity to impose his personality. If the scene is meant to be a laugh, a lighthearted romp, the guy can achieve this mood with some humour and cheeky-chappy jokiness - Ben Dover is brilliant at this, of course. This will also get the girl in the right mood especially if she's a beginner. TT Boy is great for aggressive, hard and fast scenes. Mark Davis is good for more stylish, or 'serious' scenes, because he can act a little and has a good poker face. Frank Gun's comically bemused expression, and generally amiable, even dozy persona make him great for scenes where the guy gets taken for a ride by a femme fatale or pricktease. Of course all these guys can get wood, and aren't afraid to get down to it on camera, but that applies to a thousand other actors.

Interesting that you say "guys" Rimbaut. Do you mean that in the general sense, or addressing males only? Men and women might give different answers.

But personally, and as a male, Yes I agree that personality is a major factor in their screen "presence" - more so than cock-inches or quantity of cum etc.

Also, and this is almost certainly my hetero male viewpoint, I see their roll as facilitators of female sexuality. I watch porn -
A) To see women genuinely lose themselves in their lust - Rare, sadly.
B) To see technically good and interesting sex - ditto.
C) To appreciate beautiful bodies, sets, plots even.

This "facilitating" can be in the form of Ben?s cheeky witticism in anchoring the scenario, a dominant guy artfully playing a female sub to mindless ecstasy, or a thousand other ways.

The ones who irritate me or I can?t be bothered to watch are the mechanical, humourless & characterless fuckers. For me they detract from the scene, and frankly I?d rather they left so that we could watch some uninterrupted female masturbation!

Ouchh! - We?ll have to agree to differ there. I?m not asking that she be a nuclear scientist or a Royal Shakespeare Company actress, but I find it degrading when the woman is portrayed as nothing but a characterless shag-bag. A big turn-on in porn is in seeing the Sexy Girl Next Door type transformed into a salivating slut by her own desires. Then I?ll forgive her anything!

I think Rocco meets all these requirements!

Surely nothing is worse than someone who is off putting. Be it because they're so damned ugly, or they just don't keep quiet. You're getting off successfully because of the woman's reaction and a fat, old, sweaty, hairy man (granted, with a large penis) starts cracking jokes. And to prove they are all round entertainers, we have extended close ups of their faces when we should be looking at the sex. Some of these men are painfully unnattractive - is there seriously a woman in the world who finds Ron Jeremy sexy? Most of them are fine, though, in my opinion, but there are one or two who ruin it for me. Randy West is one of them. RJ is another.

I hate Rocco Siffredi. I would second the view expressed by scrab however -men should shut up during sex scenes.
