Music help!

Hi! I have read a few posts on this forum regarding getting into the industry as an actor or producer/director which have all been followed up with great advice. I was wondering... can anyone offer advice as to how I could get into the indutry as a composer/musician/sound engineer? I know that a lot of UK production companies use library music (bought in bulk at cheap prices), but I figured that some producers somehwhere would like specially composed soundtracks. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
