broadcasting law

Post by acidspud »

Since the rules have been relaxed on what can be shown in an R18 video, is it likely that, at some time in the future TVX / adult channel will be able to show harder stuff.

Could anybody tell me where the law stands on what can be broadcast anyway, does it relate to BBFC classifications or is it completely seperate.

This also relates to the recent thread about the possible scrapping of the R18 certificate.

Terrestrial (digital) channels will no doubt in the future draw up contracts with Actors/Actresses that sexual intercourse will have to take place during the course of the TV play etc.
You CANNOT expect the general public to keep up the farce of watching sex scenes take it to the limits as at present..
Nightly so called 'comedians' sniggering at every opportunity about sex...they will want to see it done after the watershed time.10 years, after the 6 o/clock news.
Human nature expects things to move on like it's alway's been.

The ITC regulate all uk tv stations and draw up there own guidelines on taste and decency. The bbfc only classify/censor video and cinema. So yes TV is seperate.

Thanks for the replys.

It seems that any change will only come about because of pressure to conform to the rest of Europe. It will be interesting to see how long the gorvernment will hold out with their usual double standards. It makes me sad that it always seems that change only comes when someone forces the government to recognise the hypocrisy of their judgements, rather than by our leaders being enlightened enough to see the need for change themselves.
