The landing strip provides for a better landing thanks to great friction.

Smooth can create a catastrophe with skidding.

It's the skidding that makes the landing more pleasurable.Imagine if you skid to the other runway..

Every experienced pilot knows that friction is best. Why would one want to skid onto other runways? That's just a recipe for disaster.
