DO we really need the seperate forums?

Post by slater »

Ive been checking on here every day for about a year now and there is always some funny banter and some cool links, not to mention the girls popping on from time to time saying what theyre up to which is great.

But... Since the forum has been seperated into two its never as full and an o/t message from time to time on the other board was ok but a full board of them just seems unneccesary like, why would there be a completely O/T board anywhere, surely an O/T board is just a chat board from another site.

I know Im not going to chane anything but I just thought how hard can it be to just ignore posts with O/T on them, does it really hurt the forumites that much to see another teresa amy or jordan hardcore question. Ok maybe it does but its not so bad as to need another page is it?

Right, Im done with the soap box now, who's next?

The reason for the split IMHO is that the o/t posts very rarely had o/t in the header which pissed a lot of people of

Even now it continues but at a slower rate due to this o/t forum

secondly...original questions soon became off topic chats...again pissed people off...something had to give

Thirdly...a lot of people didn't really understand the o/t concept...especially first time posters

Now its simple...British on one side...everything else on the other

You are right...this o/t forum is like a chat room just not in real time

At the end of the day its makes life a little easier for the moderators and thats all that counts

I would suggest that there is a little community here (not that I'm a big part of it), and communities end up talking about all sorts of things not related to the reason they came together in the first place. If you were running a planning meeting, would you want all the time to be spent discussing holiday plans?

The split makes sense to me for that reason and because things seem less confusing now, previously it was easy to lose a thread, whereas now current threads are 'on top' which I think is very good.

just my penny worth,

thanx for the support dc - you're thinking reflects our own.

of course, any change is going to have it's advocates and it's dissenters but in the end, our priority is to enhance the functionality of the site for the widest possible number of users - not just for now but in anticipation of how things are likely to develop in the future.

for what it's worth, our stats show that having overcome the hiccup at the beginning of the relaunch, the average number of posts increased... until, that is, the war kicked off.

hardly surprising that people are somewhat distracted by the momentous nature of events elsewhere.

Perhaps the increase was the result of people discussing the changes ?!!

Looking at recent threads here there doesn't seem to be a letting off in posting and posters - 2 Boards is double the work keeping up to date but it seems to work...

Youre probably right, I only put up that post bcause there was very few posts on either board (apart form old posts) and I just worried that it might not be such a good thing.

But dont ever say Im not a team player, I support the change and espacially at this time of war we need a familliar place to talk and look a pictures of naked girls.

Rock on!
