Advice please

I am about to buy a camcorder with a budget of approx ?500, could anybody give me any help and advice on what they would reccommend in this price bracket with a view to future upgrades.

Make sure it's mini DV. Buy an external mic to improve the sound.
The Canon DV 60? was about ?800 a while back, have seen it at under ?500 somewhere. Buy a decent floodlight if you are going to shoot indoors.

You might get a good second hand Sony VX1000 on ebay for that money.
