Copyrights on a name

We've all read the sad story of two of Brit Porns finest falling out on the BGAFD forum, but regardless of who is wrong or right, or who took a diabolical liberty, can anybody advise me on how to copyright a name. Must it be registered?
I have an idea for one that is a belter and would hate somebody to nick it as it sounds good. When I copy my John Lindsay loops for many who contact me, I deliberately delete my 'trade name' as Im convinced it will be taken. Any advice would be welcome..............

To my knowledge you cannot copyright an actual name.

You can however trademark one, so you own the trademark of the name in the industry you work in.

Thanks for the input lads, and to Mick Handy who contacted me privately. Its a name I want to use for distribution, and NOT for my own personal use, as I ALWAYS use my real name for shoots etc.
