Re: vid clips
You need software like the free TMPGEnc. That will allow you to merge (or cut) files.
You should be able to download it free at:

Re: vid clips
OK, quick tutorial
If the files are .mpg, use WinZip
Put them all in one folder
Put them in the right order (rename them if you have to)
Select all the files (hold down Ctrl while you click on them in turn) & right click on the first one
select 'Add to Zip'
Give the file a suitable name & select 'None' in the compreesion box
When the new file is created, change the extension from .zip to .mpg
This doesn't always work or give the best results, but it's usually as good as using Wimdows Movie Maker
For avi files, download VirtualDub & use that (freeware)
For wmv files, the only thing I've found (short of converting to another format) that works is Windows Movie Maker
or this site might help you
A word of warning though, trying to get the best results can become a bit of an obsession. I've been known to spend hours playing about with a 90 sec clip
