Following on from Dirty Dozen etc, this 'epic' was on the other day and actually stood the test of time very well.
Pearl Harbor is a shit film, and I only watched the last 30 minutes on DVD. Those scenes were amazing, as was the first 30 mins of Private Ryan, but Battle of Britain's war scenes were shoddy in comparrison. Time for a remake I think.
When Star Wars was made in rough post production, I recall reading that the scenes of dogfights in Battle of Britain were used instead of the space ships in battle to give the visual appearence, as the technology wasnt as advanced as to give a sample of what was later to become those scenes in Star Wars
