Parkinson- a thought

Post by jj »

....I never watch this celebrity drool-fest, but forced to watch a clip t'other day I was greatly amused by the observation that it must be one of the few progs where 'celeb' A appears, plugs their latest dire drivel, then is required to sit in absolute silence while 'celeb' B does likewise.
Wonder how 'celeb' A copes with this most unusual situation...........and if it teaches them anything about the true worth of their efforts.

If you had watched it regularaly, you would see that ALL celebs 'butt' in even when it,s not thier turn on Parkie, they cant help themselves, such is thier lust for recognition, they should do what 'wossy' does and return them to the GR, after thet have spilt thier drivel. btw, this process is known as celebutting.

hope this helps.

hmm I like the tone of this thread hehe, gotta say I don't like Parkinson, he is just a bumbling, snivelling, stuttering, sychophantic old fart with overblown opinions on his frankly unimportant guests. At least Jonathan Ross (who I like) really takes the piss outta people rather than repeating "you are a star....aren't you" over and over at people. Just shows the secret to reverence - longevity and hype. Oh and a good stage designer...

Parky these days...

Post by The Last Word »

Credit where it's due, at least the Parky of old had something going for it. Yes, I know, back in the dark seventies it was all mustardy sets and Marvin Hamlisch, but the star guests were just that - Ali, Jimmy Stewart etc. The talk was fairly spiked as well. It was something to stay up for.

Whereas now Sting sits there smarting as either Griff Rhys Jones or Dawn French adorn verbal sandwich boards for their brand new sitcom starting - suprise, suprise - next week on BBC 1.

Blame the agents.

I dunno ID, Jonathon Woss regularly spouts lines like 'Best film/book/feature etc Iv'e seen in ages'
He is good though in small doses, but he can get on yer nerves after awhile

The West London of my youth is now on dvd

Yeh but I think he mostly gets guests on that he genuinely likes rather than just whoever is sent. His shows much better thought because its funnier. I just find myself nervous when watching Parky cos its like somethings going to go wrong and it'll be embarassing. JR also has pretty good taste in entertainment terms, but I dont watch Film 2004 or whatever its called

I couldn't agree more about JR getting on one's nreves. I do wish the BBC would kick him off "They think it's all over". He tries to be a comedian (which to me he's not) is crude and his dress code is abysmal IMHO.
