The fact that John Beyer and the Daily Mail are opposed to Michael Grade's appointment as Chairman of the BBC, may lead many people to conclude that he is a good choice.

Yeah, but he was also the man who tried to kill Doctor Who (given it was Colin Baker at the time, I can't say I blame him).

Acorrding to the radiowhen he was at channel 4 he commissioned Trainspotting and 4 weddings, and brough Friends to the UK. Also, when he was on room 101 I thought he was superb and i agreed with everything he said although I thought he had already been top dog at the bbc, oh well. Got my vote

Does anyone thing that ?80,000 a year for that position seems quite "low" considering the over inflated salaries in the media world.

Yes it does, but, like a PM, I imagine the it's other 'opportunities' after his tenure that really pay off.

How many hours a week does it involve him as Chairman and does it prevent him from earning money in other positions?
