I saw this and ain't convinced. For a ball to go from the centre to the goal would have to be hit fucking hard, even with wind assistance to reach the target. I think its a case of free publicity for some shitty pub team.

In the article the bloke says he put the ball on the centre spot and joked with the ref that he would have a go from there.
Well unless the laws of the game have ghanged without me noticing, does't someone else have to touch the ball before a goal can be scored?
As for the timing, I could believe 2 seconds. I was playing in a Sunday League game a few years back and having just conceded a goal, we kicked off and our striker, seeing the goalie off his line, went for goal. The ball sailed over the keeper and bounced just past the wrong sde of the post. If the shot had been on target, the goalie would have had no chance of getting back in time. I didn't have a stopwatch but it did seem very very quick.

The Argentinian one at 2.8 seconds is on film, so can be accurately timed. How can the referee say whether it was 2 secs or 2.8.

i played in a school match once and we scored direct from a kick off. someone else touched the ball first, passing it back to a team mate who whacked it straight into the opposition goal. It probably took about 3 seconds although it wasn't at the start of the game. we were 4-0 down at half time and that goal made it 4-4 with virtually the last kick of the game. what a way to get a draw!
