Norton problem

Post by Illinoisblue »

Good posts Lizard, much appreciated.

Perhaps you or another equally knowledgeable comp person might know the answer to this:

A few weeks back my laptop got knackered by the Sasser worm. After getting in touch with Gateway I now have a working computer, but there's one problem - I'm unable to get on to the Norton/Symantec website to run live updates.

Would this be something to do with the sasser?

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.

Possibly

Given that these bastards have a knack of stopping access to outside help even after running removal programs

Have you run adaware, spybot & CW Shredder if not then I would just to see if the symantec removal tools have left anything behind?

adaware
spybot

CW Shredder

Theres quite a bit of info at this link about sasser(not sure if its relevant)

or if the problem persists eithe rpost to the appropriate Windows Forum or run Hijack this in the same link as CW Shredder above and post your LOg for the experts to inspect and advise

cheers
