Techie Help plse - Adobe Premiere Pro

Post by Rock Charogne »

I know how good everyone is at helping with techie probs!!

I am trialling Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 (comes on 30 day from the Adobe site). But cannot for the life of me get the programme to recognise either of my DV cams - I use Canon XM2 and Panasonic NVGS70

Facts are:

1. My PC meets the Adobe spec - inc an OHCI compliant firewire connection

2. My PC recognises both camcorders as soon as they are connected

3. Pinnacle, the other prog I use, happily recognises and captures from both

4. Premiere Pro sees nothing and simply says "No Device Control"

Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong ?

TIA Rock

I have the same problem with the full version.
I too use Pinnacle without any probs.
So I capture with Pin and edit with Pro & AE.

Bit of a bitch really.

I think you'll have to take out the Pinnacle card as this conflicts with Adobe on my system.

Producer of hardcore movies. Travel all over the UK and Europe finding quality locations, so a shoot with me will always be fun.

The pinnacle card is just a capture card.
Regular firewire and not specific to Pin.

Failing that Rock, use Vegas Video.

Thanks guys - helpful advice as ever

One thought occurs - Holden's idea of capture in Pinnacle, edit in Adobe sounds good. At the risk of asking a naive question - is the capture in Adobe any better quality than in Pinnacle ?
