I stopped listening to pop music in 1970. The music that was being played on the radio in that year did not interest me at all. I started listening to classical music instead.
But now and then since 1970 I heard a song on the radio that I really liked. So I own about ten post-1970 singles and albums of Sixties quality. 'Rumours' happens to be one of them.
So I definitely don't think the album is overrated. But you may know by now that I seldom agree with you. ;)

I like it - the only album of there's thought was worth buying (I liked one track from Tusk but can't remember what it was called now)

Not over-rated, it WAS excellent.......BUT overplayed on any AOR station. Some tunes still stand out, especially Stevie Nick's 'Gold Dust Woman' and the very nice Lindsay Buckingham tune, 'Never Going Back'. Seen a documentary showing the band coked-up to their eyeballs making it inbetween alcohol addiction (J.McVie and Fleetwood) and marriages/partnerships failing and Mick Fleetwood sniffing round Stevie Nicks, well, can't blame him for that!!
Now, TUSK, the follow-up to Rumours was VERY over-rated.

The West London of my youth is now on dvd

it was always going to be a nightmare to follow Rumours, on which I think 30 million or so people would disagree with Steve's opininion.

I did think the 'comeback' album 'Say you Will' was also excellent

we are Leeds.... , and we can still beat the mighty Chester

I listened to it recently, and don't think it's stood the test of time. Some albums, whenever they were recorded, retain an almost fresh feel. Rumours, in my opinion (the only one I'm entitled to give) sounds like so much of the bland American soft rock that was produced in the 70s.

I beg to differ. Perfect production, well played, memorable tunes and Stevie Nicks is filth on legs.
