Am I wasting my time posting requests for help? I would like to set my Epson printer to B&W as the default. I can't get a reply from Epson and a support forum thinks it can't be done. Do any of you know whether this is a general situation with all printers?

Re: Printer default settings
On my Epson 1290 I have just done it without any problems but havent tried a reboot so it may revert back to colour on restart.
The process would be pretty much the same for any printer really:
(In XP)
Go to printers and faxes
Right click your printer
Go to properties
Click printing preferences
Change ink from color to black
Click ok
Now go to word for example and when you print it prints in black by default
The above may be slightly different depending on your printer model but the principle is the same - like I said before tho not sure what effect a reboot will have.
