Welcome return of Little Britain

Post by Ace »

I don't have sky anymore, so a few weeks behind with this series which aired on Friday.
Nice return to form and some excellent sketches. The Womens Institute fete judging was brilliant, as was Andy battering the yobs

The West London of my youth is now on dvd

I did cringe at the breast feeding sketch, but howled at the vomit projectiles and the transvestite reminding her 'lady friend' to 'sit when you piss'
Nice to see these two on Jonathon Ross later that night as well

I am baffled as to the appeal of this pseudo batty boy shite. Matt Clucas was mildy amusing as George Dawes but Little Britain is painfully unfunny.

The comedy is that it lampoons many stereotypes and prejudices still prevalent in today's society...

...the Womens Institute judge who throws up after tasting cakes or jams made by single parents/members of ethnic communities/the homeless/those in mixed-race marriages/etc

... the organiser of "Fat Fighters" who can never understand a word the Indian lady says though she speaks perfect English...

... and some of it is just funny...

"But how to make Liverpool economically prosperous? If only there was some way for Liverpudlians to profit from going on and on about the past in a whiny voice."

I think it is a matter of opinion though Heathray because I thought Matt Lucas as George Dawes was absolute pants as was that whole show, if you want to catch the real good (read tasteless) parts of Little Britain better to catch it on BBC3 as BBC1 deemed some of the characters not suitable for a mainstream audience and cut them from the show altogether.

?I?m a Lady ...?
PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?

Oh dear. More vulgar caricatures, coarse humour, blokes dressed as women, endlessly repeated catchphrases...

Tear-off the self-appointed 'cool comedy' sticker, dismiss the tokenistic 'darker' overtones, and all you're left with is Dick Emery - and he wasn't funny either.
